Many organisations find it useful to have a specific pool of equipment that is loaned out to end users, for instance when their own equipment is in the process of being repaired or they forget to bring in their laptop or other equipment for the day.
A pool of loan equipment can be a useful way to get more value from older equipment, it reduces losses because loan equipment can be clearly labelled with the date it is due to be returned, and it also avoids the scenario where a lovely new piece of kit is given to an end user while their old equipment is being repaired, they fall in love with their new device and refuse to receive the old one back!
