Description
Smaller organisations, and those which prefer to minimise the stock retained on-premises for administrative or space reasons, may decide to not implement this process in full as described here. However, all organisations inevitably have at least some equipment that is serviceable but not actually in use, and it is important that these items are identified so they can be reused where possible. This process can also be applied to peripherals such as docking stations, cables, keyboards, mice, monitors etc, although these will generally not be tracked in the IT asset register or CMDB.
